Unfortunately, the iPad wifi model doesn\u2019t give your accurate location on the water, as this model does not have a GPS chip for location tracking. With the so-called ‘Assisted GPS’, the iPad can only roughly estimate positions via the Internet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can also use an external GPS module (recommended). We recommend using an AIS receiver that also supports GPS<\/a>. For GPS reception, we would recommend purchasing a GPS antenna<\/a> with it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, if you have an iPhone, you can share the GPS location of your iPhone with your iPad via Bluetooth. Here\u2019s how this works:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Turn on Bluetooth on both iPhone and iPad<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Open the Waterkaarten app on both devices<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. On your iPhone, access your profile by tapping the icon in the top right of the app next to the search bar<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Scroll down to section \u2018GPS Share\u2019 and switch on the toggle for \u2018Share GPS with another Apple device\u2019<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. On your non-GPS enabled iPad, access your profile by tapping the icon in the top right of the app next to the search bar<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Scroll down to section \u2018GPS Share\u2019 and switch on the toggle for \u2018Receive GPS from another Apple device\u2019<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  7. After a few seconds the connection will be established and you will see the message: \u2018Connection established\u2019<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  8. You can now close this message and return to the maps<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
